Welcoming PArty

Performed at Newtown Theater

Review from AUSSIETHEATER.COM

When Stan (Peter Cameron) arrives home from a business trip, he is expecting to be greeted by his wife and children. Instead, he is greeted by Bob (Hugh Smith), who casually tells him that his wife is dead but tries to ease his pain by offering him Sue-Lee (Patricia Toh), a mail-order bride. While the idea sounds slightly macabre, this was one of the funnier plays of the first act, and Cameron's performance in particular is quite impressive. Writer Aaron Scully has done well – watch out for the twist at the end.

Short & Sweet Sydney 2007 runs  at the Newtown Theatre and at the Seymour Centre Downstairs with 90 plays (each no longer than 10 minutes long) receiving full productions in a total of nine weekly programmes. Apart from this “Top 90”, another 50+ receiving one-off performances as part of the new “Wildcards” section.

The top ten plays from the season will then progress through to the final in the York Theatre of the Seymour Centre.
